BREAKING: Nigerian Police Officers Injured As Vehicle Somersaults Into Gully On Aba/Owerri Road

A Toyota Sienna transporting Nigerian Police Force personnel was involved in an auto accident on Tuesday morning along the Aba/Owerri Road.

Although the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle somersaulted and fell into a gully.

A video obtained by SaharaReporters depicts the harrowing aftermath, with at least three officers lying unconscious on the ground while others were probably trapped inside the vehicle.

Emergency responders and sympathisers promptly arrived at the scene to provide assistance and rescue those trapped.

In a disturbing detail, one of the unconscious officers, who was extricated from the vehicle, was overheard inquiring about his rifle despite sustaining visible injuries.

When contacted, the Abia State Police Command’s Spokesperson, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, indicated that she would provide further information upon receiving an official brief.

“When I get the official brief, I will let you know,” she said.

However, attempts to reach the Imo State Command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, were unsuccessful.

On Monday, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Abia State Command, confirmed that an officer of “Operation Crush,” the state’s Joint Task Force, had died in a lone road traffic crash on Sunday at Isieke along the Umuahia-Bende Road.

In a press statement released by the Corps Commander, Ngozi Ezeoma, the FRSC Abia State Command reported that eight officers suffered varying degrees of injury in the accident, which was attributed to brake failure.
