The Nigeria Police Force has directed all 80 Mobile Police (MOPOL) Squadrons to reactivate local training for march-past exercises.
The squadrons are required to establish units of trained parade personnel proficient in various types of march pasts and parades, including advance drills, bare parades, burial ceremonies, and wedding ceremonies within the NPF/MOPOL framework.
This directive, issued via a wireless message to MOPOLS 1-80, expresses dissatisfaction with the subpar performance of MOPOL personnel during the march-past at the recently concluded Police Day celebration at Eagle Square.
The wireless communication, dated April 9, 2025, was authorised by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mobile Police, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The AIG cautioned Squadron Commanders to strictly adhere to the directive, stressing that trained parade units must maintain readiness, as they could be summoned for parades at any time.
Additionally, the communication was circulated to key authorities, including the Inspector General of Police and the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters, to ensure thorough dissemination and implementation.
