After an extensive investigation on the sieged laid by a combined team of security men at Mary Slessor branch of Ecobank yesterday, with a view to track down the most wanted militant leader in Cross River State, a.k.a ‘G1’, it has been revealed that the notorious G1 used the Ecobank ATM in withdrawing cash and left at about 10 minutes before the arrival of the security men.
Security men had cordone the bank premises in search of the militant leader who has been in the wanted list of security agents in the state.
It would be recalled that G1 led his men to kidnapp some expatriates working with Unicem company in Calabar and the sum of N150million was alledged to have been paid as ransome.
Two weeks ago, G1 also led his men to attack soldiers at the Efut Esighi Army post where unconfirmed report said that 6 soldiers suffered casualties. But the Army also repelled the attack a few days later and killing 7 of the militants, destroying their shrine and camps.
Notorious criminals always die like cowards.
The end of G1, whose real name is Benjamin Ene, would soon come to an end because no evil deed last forever. This way, investors and tourists in Cross River State would now go about their normal business without fear of abduction.
