The Nigerian Army and Mobile Police (MOPOL) are shooting at each other in GTBank located at Calabar Road, adjacent to CBN and directly opposite Access Bank, Calabar.
The incident happens when a MOPOL man and an Army officer exchange blows over what was described as struggling for a queue in the bank.
Sooner, troops of Army from the nearby Akim barracks flooded in while the police also did same and started opening fire. Mostly shooting at the sky with the opposite forces positioning in shooting mode. The MOPOL stated firing teargas at the civil within the vicinity which opens up a huge commotion whereby the roads are now blocked. The teargas currently has extended into the popular Watt Market and the neighbouring banks including the CBN.
