Manchester United intend to recruit a chief business officer to report into their incoming CEO, Omar Berrada.
The new hire would be responsible for the club’s commercial-related activity & will sit alongside Dan Ashworth.
This is as reported by Dan Sheldon of The Athletic.
This appointment follows the sheer intent already shown by Sir Jim Ratcliffe in building a proper structure above the manager, something that has been missing under The Glazers.
Sir Jim and his INEOS contingent have already made some statement signing in Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth, and they are closing in on Jason Wilcox.
Nothing says we mean business as much as stealing your rival’s top executive from right under their noses, as INEOS did with Omar Berrada nabbing him from City rivals Man City.
Dan Ashworth on the other hand is already on gardening leave at Newcastle United just waiting for an agreement between the clubs to be met as he has already agreed to personal terms.
Jason Wilcox, on the other hand, was an executive at Southampton before sensationally resigning a few days ago to push a move to United. This was on account of Southampton playing hard ball with negotiations for him.
Whoever INEOS decide to appoint in this new executive position will have their work cut out being in charge of commercial related activities for perhaps the biggest club in the world commercially.
Sitting alongside incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth, the chief business officer will report to incoming CEO Omar Berrada.
