Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a concession speech following her defeat in the November presidential election where she vowed to continue fighting for the democratic values of America.
Acknowledging Donald Trump’s victory, Harris said “the outcome of this election is not what we wanted (and) not what we fought for, not what we voted for.”
She told supporters gathered at her campaign headquarters, “But hear me when I say the light of America’s Promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.”
The Vice President confirmed she had spoken with President-elect Trump earlier in the day to congratulate him.
Harris said she’s committed to a peaceful transfer of power and upholding what she called “a fundamental principle of American democracy.”
However, Harris said there was a difference between accepting electoral defeat and abandoning her core principles.
“While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign,” she declared.
