The University of Calabar chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU – UNICAL Chapter) had yesterday, sequel to a congress it held at the University of Calabar International Conference Center, indicated its interest to join in the impending industrial action to be embarked by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) today from 12am.

In an interactive session with a member of the union, Barr. Joseph Odok, sequel to the conclusion of the congress held, the leading social commentator and social media change agent opined that, 'between now and one second after 12 O' Clock AM if the federal government doesn't reverse the pump price of fuel from N145.00 to N86.50, ASUU would join NLC/TUC in a full blown indefinite strike action with no academic activity'.

As at press time, Negroid Haven could not elicit a response from the Chairman of ASUU of the University of Calabar chapter, Dr. Tony Inyang. However, it should be noted that the decision of ASUU UNICAL Chapter was a domestication of the union's national body, according to what NH garnered from other sources.
