Updated: APC Cross River Impeaches Chairman, Appoints Acting

The state executive committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Cross River chapter, has impeached the Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Ebar, following his refusal to voluntarily resign after several calls from all segments of the party.

Ntufam Ekum Ekok Ojogu has been appointed Acting Chairman to oversee the affairs of the party pending the when a state congress would be convened.

Announcing the impeachment of Ebar, state secretary of the party, Patrick Asikpo, disclosed at the party secretariat on Thursday that 30 out of the 32 members of the state executive committee adopted the resolution to remove the former chairman during its meeting on 26 November, 2025.

Meanwhile in his acceptance speech, the new acting chairman tasked members to sheath their swords and move the party forward.

“It is time to sheath our swords. Let us set aside any differences, grievances, or misunderstandings that may have arisen.

“I want you to know that all entitlements and dues owed to you will be serviced in the shortest possible time.

“Your patience and trust fuel our resolve to move forward together,” he said.

He also affirmed his unflinching loyalty to the state governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu.

Chapter and ward executives of the party had called for the resignation of the former state chairman over allegations ranging from financial misappropriation, high-handedness to dictatorial leadership.

The swearing in of the acting chairman was witnessed by APC South South Zonal Secretary, Dr Ita Udosen and Cross River Representative at the Zonal level, Edet Asia.
