Brazilian football is renowned for developing skilful players with the likes of Neymar and Antony routinely bringing flair to the game.
However, an ex-Manchester United star has now led to a change in the footballing rules in Brazil due to a piece of skill which sent the game into a massive brawl.
As Corinthians took on Palmeiras in the Campeonato Paulista final, former Red Devil Memphis Depay derailed the game.
With Corinthians having won the first leg, the second leg in a goalless draw and Depay in an attacking position, the winger feigned crossing the ball into the box, before standing on the ball with both feet.
The move enraged the Palmeiras’ players, sparking a mass brawl between the clubs as the game descended into chaos.
In the lengthy VAR review of the brawl, Palmeiras substitute goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba and Corinthians midfielder Jose Martinez were dismissed, with 18 minutes of extra time being added to the match by officials.

Memphis Depay leads to Brazil Football Federation rule change
Now, BBC has reported that the Brazil Football Federation has changed the rules, with this piece of “skill” to be responded to with a yellow card and an indirect free-kick to the opposing team.
The Brazil FF called the move a “provocation to a rival and disrespects the game”.
In response, Memphis Depay commented: “I really went to Brazil to also experience Jogo Bonito [the beautiful game] first hand but now the CBF announced yesterday that no player can stand on the ball or the player will receive a yellow card.”
He continued: “Not that it is such an important factor in football but I don’t see the issue here. There is so much talent over here. The joy and passion in the way of expressing ourselves on the field shouldn’t be limited.
“I really wonder what the board of the CBF looks like. Who’s deciding the future of this beautiful football country?
“Let’s focus on what rules can improve the sport and focus on the business side of football – what benefits the clubs the fans and players instead of these silly announcements.”
These thoughts were shared by former Barcelona and PSG star Neymar, saying: “football is getting more and more boring”.
