Resistance is futile
SNK recently announced that big boss character Omega Rugal would be joining the cast of King of Fighters 15 as a free DLC character. It was also unveiled that this powerful contender would be returning to his true boss form thanks to a special boss challenge that makes him insanely strong and tough to beat — just like old SNK fighting game bosses are known for being.
While Omega Rugal isn’t officially available until tomorrow, some players are already diving into the boss challenge and showing what this horrifying opponent is capable of. Apparently, Omega Rugal has a super attack that sees him activate it and menacingly walk forward at the player until he ultimately snatches them up and hits them with a devastating attack. Oh yeah, and this maneuver looks damn near unstoppable here on day 0.
The folks over at GameGoonsTV held a live stream last night that gave viewers a glimpse at the terrifying opponent. While traits like insane damage, crazy meter build, and amazing reads were on display here, it was this walking super in particular that was definitely the stand out facet.
A couple of clips have been uploaded to Twitter now that show Hellpockets taking on Omega Rugal with a variety of characters. In the first clip, we see Rugal pop the super and hold up a flaming fist as he begins to slowly walk forward at his prey.
We see the player’s Joe slowly walking back to get away before attempting an attack. Unfortunately, the start up frames of the move get scooped up by Omega Rugal’s command grab super.
Another clip features the attempt to counter with projectiles instead, but this does not go well either. Terry hangs back and throws fireballs at Rugal only to see them reflected right back at him with the greatest of ease.
Rugal legitimately walks his opponent down like he’s Terminator, and not even physical attacks seem to be able to knock him out of it as he has super armor on while he has the super active.

Despite how it looks, there does appear to be a way to stop Rugal from invading your space. During the broadcast, Hellpockets managed to test how a command grab would work in this situation, and the results were positive.
Using Gato’s flip grab, we do see Rugal get stopped in his tracks and thrown across the screen. This command throw is unique in that it attacks from the air, though, so it is unclear if all command grabs will actually beat this incredibly powerful super.
It won’t be long before you can run some tests of your own against Omega Rugal. Be sure to let us know how it goes in the comments.
