Bomb threat made against NY court hearing Trump case

    March 22, 20232 Mins Read

A bomb threat was made against a Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday just before a hearing on a $250 million lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, with criminal charges possibly coming soon in another case.

State court spokesperson Lucian Chalfen said that the threat against the New York State Supreme Court Building was determined to be unfounded after the building was closed and searched, Bloomberg reported.

The threat was issued via 911 call just as a hearing was about to begin in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ case against Trump, three of his children, and his company, the Trump Organization. James filed the civil lawsuit in September alleging they inflated the value of the company’s assets.

Trump has denied he did anything wrong and called the investigation a “witch hunt,” as reported by ABC News. The case is set to go to trial Oct. 2, Reuters reported.

Bloomberg reported that the New York Supreme Court justice overseeing the case, Arthur Engoron, said after the bomb threat: “As if this case wasn’t interesting enough.”

The New York State Supreme Court Building is just two blocks from the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, where security has been boosted ahead of anticipated charges against Trump in a separate case.

News reports have indicated that a grand jury is expected to vote soon on whether to indict Trump in an investigation that reportedly centers on 2016 hush money allegedly paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

The latest information is that the grand jury’s scheduled Wednesday meeting was canceled, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg told jurors to be on standby for Thursday, NBC New York reported. The reason for the canceled meeting was not immediately clear.
