It has begun
BlazBlue: Central Fiction finally received its big rollback netcode update earlier this month, and now it’s time for the next entry to take the stage.
Arc System Works has officially launched the rollback beta for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle for players to test out.
Like Central Fiction’s beta, BBTAG’s test is only available on the Steam version of the game, but unlike its predecessor, the full update will eventually be added to the PlayStation 4 too.
To access the beta version, all you need to do is right click on Cross Tag Battle’s Steam client and select properties.
From there, find the betas tab and change beta opted into from none to “public test.” An update should then download, which will let you take the new online for a spin once complete.
?Attention!*#BBTAG Rollback Netcode Public Test is now live on Steam!
Enjoy the public test and Rollback Netcode!
*Please note that you cannot save the public test results data and the full version results data separately. Please be aware of this. pic.twitter.com/aXohoBcKeZ— ArcSystemWorks ➡️ #GuiltyGearStrive available now! (@ArcSystemWorksU) February 23, 2022
There’s no timeline for how long BBTAG’s rollback beta will last, but if Central Fiction is any indication, it should remain available until the full update hits.
Central Fiction took around 2 months to go from beta to release, so Cross Tag Battle’s may then do the same around April or May.
There doesn’t seem to be confirmation that rollback will hit the PS4 at the same time as PC, but either way, it’s planned to come at some point this year.
