It is no longer news that our dear country Nigeria is in what I may describe as a critical condition economically and thus demands an 'Intensive Care' sympathy from her 'big brother' foreign countries.
You would also recall that Mr president has been travelling to different countries of late since He assumed office in the corridors of power to which different camps of individual Nigerians have erred out there views about the incessant travellings of PMB.
Some have assessed it and have come to say it is all done in the good faith of Nigeria while others have begged to disagree as they have condemned the ' vacation mentality' of president Buhari alleging that it is rather futile and that it is only aimed at worsening the Nigerian situation.
We can only wonder which camp amongst the duo reflect the actual existential facts of our Nigerian situation.
However, Mr President who since He assumed office in May 2015 (over 11years) has travelled to virtually all western countries known (This is no exaggeration).
In fact, he seems to have been dubbed as ” The most travelled Nigerian President.
Should we give him kudos for achieving this supposed feat? I leave you to ponder on this.
Without much ado, His excellency, Buhari, in an attempt to respond to the criticisms showered upon him by those who he may consider as enemies to his administration, did inform that Nigerians should look away from his Government but to accuse the previous administration; to wit, Jonathan's led PDP administration which according to him( Buhari) failed to plan for the raining day”.. as he puts it!
According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to plan for Nigeria’s raining day in such a time where in there was abundance of high revenue from oil.
He further argues that the previous administration of the Peoples Democratic Party wasted their 16 years in office.
In his words which he communicated through his special Adviser on media and publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, he avers that:
“In the First Republic, more enduring infrastructure was built with meagre resources. But in the past 16 years, we made a lot of money without planning for the rainy day”.
“We showed a lot of indiscipline in managing our economy, and that is why we are where we are today. But this time round, we’ll do our best.”
“Nigeria needs to work on her potentials, so that we don’t remain permanently at the level of potentials.
While reflecting on the need to improve and as well as to standardise Nigeria's civil aviation Industry, He avers that :
“If Ethiopia is sustained largely by her airline industry, we have greater potentials here. But we must move out, engage with the rest of the world, as we need to re-establish the integrity of this country. We need to rebuild this country again.”
Corroborating PMB points, Dr Aliyu, the Nigerian-born ICAO president affirms that Civil aviation is a catalyst for economic development.
For him, The level of aviation development in any country is proportional to the economic development of such a country.
He (Dr Aliyu) therefore commended PMB for his achievement in areas of curbing corruption and the likes.
He also promised to be a part of the support for the development of the aviation industry in Nigeria, urging the country to improve more by focusing on training and capacity development in most sectors of the economy.
