Bison is strong, simple, but not top 5

We’ve now had M. Bison in Street Fighter 6 for over a month and the evil dictator has made quite the psycho splash with an oppressive, offensive play style that’s ushered many in the community toward considering the character a top tier.

Content creator and tournament player Brian F recently joined Fighting Game Select to offer his two cents on Bison now that we’ve had some time with him, and argues that while the character is good, he’s not quite top 5 good for one particular reason.

M. Bison has long been a horizontal dominator thanks to maneuvers like his scissor kicks and Psycho Crusher, and that trait is in full force in SF6 thanks in no small part to the fact that Capcom has removed charge restrictions and given Bison quarter circle motions instead.

Pair these moves with the natural oppression of Drive Rush and then pepper in the fact that Bison can also surprise you from above with unique midair maneuvers and you have a character who has little trouble getting up your face.

Up close and personal is perhaps Bison’s favorite place to be as his frame trap and spacing games are on point in Street Fighter 6, especially once he adds the threat of his revamped Psycho Mine special (a move that both causes defender hesitation and doles out massive damage when used in routine combos).

Thus far we have a character who thrives up close and has little problem getting there, so concerns about the latest DLC addition being “pay to win” or at least exceedingly good seem warranted enough.

Brian admits all of this is great about the character and does indeed get him as far as to be solidly in the top 10 of tier lists, but there’s one aspect of the character that keeps him from mingling with the cream of the crop. You can find out what that is along with tons more about the character in the full video below.

Give the chat between Fighting Game Select’s Kizzie Kay and Brian F a watch and let us know if you agree with Brian’s assessments, or if you think Bison has the juice to be a matter of fact top 5 character in this season of Street Fighter 6.
