The United States, joined by Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Italy, will provide Ukraine with five additional strategic air defense systems in the coming months.
Dozens of tactical air defense systems, including NASAMS, HAWKs, IRIS-T, and Gepard systems, will also be supplied. Italy will also donate a SAMP-T system.
Canada, Norway, Spain, the UK, and other NATO member countries will play a role in providing the systems, aimed at protecting Ukrainian cities, civilians, and soldiers from Russian attacks.
“Ukraine will receive hundreds of additional interceptors over the next year, helping protect Ukrainian cities against Russian missiles and Ukrainian troops facing their attacks on the frontlines.
“The United States and our allies are committed to supporting Ukraine’s defense for as long as it takes,” Biden emphasized.
