Over its nearly 40-year history, the Street Fighter franchise has seen dozens upon dozens of characters across different rosters, but who among them has what it takes to be considered a fan favorite?
Well, Capcom just wrapped their in-game character poll for Street Fighter 6 to reveal how all of the world warriors were ranked by players picking their absolute number one ‘Top Tier.’
With the latest Street Voter campaign closed, we’re now taking a look at how all 93 world warrior choices fared when put head-to-head like this.
Before we get started, however, it is important to point out that these results aren’t 1-to-1 with individual picks because players could earn thousands of more votes by doing things like playing Battle Hub matches.
Although after looking at the spread of average votes per person, we’re not sure if that’d shake up the overall rankings significantly and instead makes some of the top placers even more impressive with their results.
The top of the list for top Street Fighter character actually goes to someone brand new to SF6 and a DLC character no less.
A.K.I. managed to take home the grand prize with a whopping 10.5% of the votes, which is almost more than double second place, and her average votes per person are notably lower than most others in the top 10.
So that seems to indicate the poisonous newcomer did inherently receive a ton of support from players in general while her master F.A.N.G didn’t fare quite so well with only 0.1% of the vote at 83rd place.
Or perhaps players mashed through the dialogue too much and accidentally picked her as the first character on the list.
The rest of the top 5 has two more fighters already in SF6 as well with Akuma at 3rd and Ryu at 5th, which isn’t too surprising, but perhaps the fighting games poster boy could have used some of that support to reach the top 10 of Capcom’s fan favorite characters.
As for the top characters not on SF6’s roster, Sakura came in with an impressive 2nd place, but perhaps more interesting is Akira Kazama at 4th with 3.6% of the vote.
The Rival Schools rep had arguably the best showing of them all since her average votes were less than 3,000, so she really must have made an impact in Street Fighter 5 — or people are just trying to send a message that they want Justice High to return.

Makoto is the only other character not in SF6 to make the top 10 at 6th place with almost 6,000 votes registered per user.
The other best world warrior contenders still sitting on the sidelines include Evil Ryu at 11th, Karin at 12th, Ingrid of all characters at 13th and Dudley at 14th.
Clearly this campaign was not made with the sole purpose to decide future DLC characters because all of the SF6 cast is featured, but our poll is to vote on your dream DLC season.
Since this Street Voter began before the official Season 2 reveal, we can also see how those upcoming fighters fared too with M. Bison hitting 15th while Elena was down at 43rd — though obviously Terry and Mai weren’t options to pick from.
Despite being the new protagonist of the series, Luke finished at 30th behind the likes of Poison, Lucia and even Abigail though besides A.K.I., the newcomer with the next highest amount of votes was Jamie at 34th.
And though he lost to Alex, and Ryu, Luke did at least beat out Abel and Rashid in terms of main SF heroes with the Street Fighter 4 grappler coming in at 57th and the SF5 rep hitting 63rd sandwiched between Zeku and Sean.
The newcomer with the least amount was Lily getting bested by the likes of Decapre, Necalli and Rufus, but she did still place a few spots higher than T. Hawk.
There were three characters who received so few votes, however, that they didn’t even register at 0.1% being Lee, Geki and Joe, which makes sense considering they were just non-playable characters in the original Street Fighter.
As for the fighter who made at least two playable appearances but scored the lowest, that unfortunate result goes to Birdie. He couldn’t even beat out Eleven and Twelve.
If your favorite character is Skullomania or anyone else original from the Street Fighter EX series, then you may be bummed to see they weren’t on the list at all since they’re owned by Arika.
With 93 choices Capcom gave fans to pick from, we could be here all day, but that mostly sums up all of the points of interest we found through these rankings.
And though we can’t see them, Capcom themselves have access to the complete voting data, so they can see how many characrters were picked the most individually.
This is a pretty smart way to gauge who your playing audience would be interested in as DLC, so we’ll see if that comes to pass even if it does take a year to two to come to fruition.
