Super Eagles defender Benjamin Tanimu has been awarded the Edo State Global Player of the Year, celebrating his remarkable achievements for both club and country in an eventful 2024.
Tanimu capped 3 times by Nigeria senior men’s national team, Tanimu made his first appearance for Nigeria in the U23 level during his time in Nigeria’s domestic top-flight.
From Humble Beginnings to Global Recognition
Tanimu’s professional football journey began with his hometown club Bendel Insurance in Nigeria before he moved to Tanzania, joining Ihefu FC. His standout performances in East Africa paved the way for a transfer to England, where he now plays for Crawley Town FC.

The 22-year-old gained national recognition after stepping up during an injury crisis in the Super Eagles squad. His debut in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Ghana showcased his talent and composure, solidifying his reputation as a reliable defender.
