It’s still mind blowing that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a roster featuring 86 characters. As impressive as this is, fans will always want even more challengers to join the fight.

Due to this, there are those that have taken it upon themselves to create mods that allow players to use fighters that have never been playable in the Super Smash Bros. series thus far. This provides us with a small taste of what these combatants could be like should they ever actually get selected for future entries.

Throughout many videos, the Beefy Smash Doods have been highlighting some of the better made characters added to Super Smash Bros. via modding. How effective would these challengers be in a tournament setting?

To answer this question, the Beefy Smash Doods recently hosted a tournament to determine which of the modded fighters would be the most competitive. They ended up inviting CurryGovernor, Hope, Joni, Snormanda, AndresFn, Supahsemmie, NaetorU, and Tarik, who are all notable players within the competitive European scene.

All of the competitors will have access to 16 modded characters consisting of Kamek, Krystal, Waluigi, Silver the Hedgehog, Alucard, Sans, Knuckles the Echidna, Blaziken, Masked Man, Sandbag, Goku, Bomberman, Funky Kong, Shadow the Hedgehog, Toad, and Gogeta.

They’ve all been given access to all 16 combatants over the course of several weeks to practice with. When the tournament happened, each of the players were tasked with selecting one character that they had to stick with throughout the entire event. No two players can select the same fighter.

There’s quite a lot on the line as the winner will get the lion’s share of the €965 prize pool (which is about equivalent to 1,012.91 USD). Check it all out below:
