Mason Greenwood is at the centre of a transfer race with Barcelona and Real Madrid both wanting to sign the attacker.
Greenwood joined Marseille this summer after a loan spell with Getafe last season kick-started his career once more.
The 23-year-old was awarded Getafe’s Player of the Season award, having grabbed ten goals and six assists in 36 matches.
Well, in 13 games with Marseille, Greenwood is already close to surpassing this with nine goals and two assists, putting him in second place in Ligue 1’s race for the Golden Boot.
Having arrived in France for £26.7 million, Greenwood has had an incredible run of form, helping the side hold second place. The deal comprised of a £23.3 million transfer fee and £3.4 million in add-ons.
However, now the LaLiga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are monitoring the England international, wanting to sign the star.
How the sale of Mason Greenwood would benefit Manchester United
TBR Football have reported that after a great start to the season, Marseille could for upwards of £46 million for their top goal scorer.
However, this also looks to be a massive win for Manchester United, with The Red Devils including a 50% sell-on clause in the deal that saw Mason Greenwood move to Marseille.
If Marseille do in fact sell their star man for £46 million in the summer, United will get an additional £23 million, taking his total sale value to £49.7 million.
This extra windfall payment would certainly help with the financial pressures being felt at Old Trafford currently.
United are currently feeling the pressure, with Amorim ruled out of making any big-money signings until the club has recuperated funds.
To do so, United are looking at making some big sales with the likes of Casemiro and Antony, whilst also going through a series of cost-cutting schemes like raising ticket prices.
Needless to say, an extra income from the sale of Greenwood would certainly help out The Red Devils.
