The Tekken Talk Live post-release roadmap reveal broadcast recently took place in the midnight hours. During the livestream, the topic regarding rage quitters came up.
As it turns out, Bandai Namco is already making arrangements to start banning players that are causing problems. Those that are rage quitting before a match ends may find themselves on a list of players that get banned from Tekken 8’s online service.
“Harada was just touching on something that you all have a lot of interest in recently: the people who are plugging,” said Michael Murray while acting as a translator for Katsuhiro Harada. “There’s no perfect solution to this, but we’re trying to improve it at least to make it a more accurate disconnect ratio that’s displayed on their character profiles.”
“Also, obviously we want to ban these people from the game, but there’s a lot of legal protections in various countries in different manners around the world, so we’re just being very careful that we have all of that kind of paperwork and the methodology that’s necessary to remove these people from the game service before we go through with the bans,” continued Murray. “It will happen. Please be patient.”
However, Harada acknowledges that there are those that might be having internet issues occasionally causing them problems. “It’s not like you’re going to get banned for one time,” said Murray.
What Bandai Namco is paying attention to the players that are constantly doing this sort of thing. Those that just have a rare occasion shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
Furthermore, the crew acknowledges that some people might be doing these sort of things as a joke. As such, they’re giving people the opportunity to change their ways before they get all the technicalities of issuing lifetime bans sorted out.
“We just don’t want someone to act like a jerk and think it’s a joke, then end up banned and come crying to us to unban them,” continued Murray as he translated for Harada. “Please consider yourself warned.”
“There are various methods, right? Some people who aren’t that bad might just get a message warning them that they’re going to get banned. But some people could get outright banned for life from Tekken 8.”
It seems that Bandai Namco is taking this seriously. Those that don’t shape up may either get a message or experience a lifetime ban from Tekken 8.
“So, it’s no joke. If you’re doing that now, please stop. And I hope you’re not on the list already.”
Finally, it’s also noted that those that run into these sort of players can report them in-game. Additionally, Bandai Namco can be made aware of these players by recording footage of their antics and uploading to Twitter.
