After the arrest of more than 50 suspected cult gang recently, and hardcore robbery gang has emerged again robbing people of their money, phones, bags, cars, goods in broad day light without Security intervention. Too bad for this city is going down the tunnel…
News Reports have gathered that within the period of 19th – 25th June, 2016, Target road in Calabar South has witnessed straight 4 days (Monday – Thursday) back-to-back broad day light robbery with little or no intervention from security operatives.
Also CrossRiverWatch Com has reported that about 1:40pm Tuesday 28th June, 2016 a gang of about five robbers robbed some persons of their valuables around Ekoson oil by Manye Avenue and few minutes later another gang which eye witness say are five in number robbed motorists of their valuables including phones and money and finally dispossessed someone of a SUV at Marian Hill by Bateba before the police could arrive the scene.
And the fearless hardcore gang, carrying dangerous weapons had stood at Marian Hill where the car they were earlier driving had developed a fault, they came down, robbed passers-by of their valuables, then stopped a driver who was passing, threw him out then drove off.
After about one hour from the Marian Hill incident there was another robbery at a shop at Ndidem Usang Iso road close to Crunches fast food. But there was no eye witness to give details of the situation. Same day another robbery was witnessed around Udemsco Mayne Avenue at about 3pm with another at Total filling station Yellow Duke by Ekpo Abasi.
Even as the dreaded gangs are still out there threatening lives and properties of people, little or no security face has shown to give the citizens a hope of fresh air as they are now frightened to walk about or even stay at home.
Although, a Spokesperson for the State Police Command, Irene Itohan contacted by media men said the police is on top of the situation and assured Cross Riverians of a quick calm and safety.
