The Director General of Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu, has charged developmental partners to show objectivity and determination in ensuring primary healthcare in the state meet up the recommended national standard. She said these yesterday 13 July during the flag-off of Desk Review meeting for the upcoming Multi-year Operational Planning (MYOP) meeting scheduled to begin on 18th of July, 2016 to 23rd July, 2016 at Obudu mountain Resort.
“I remain very grateful for all your support (partners) on this project aimed at defining a way forward for the agency towards the revitalization of primary healthcare in the state.
According to her, the state Governor Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade and his wife Dr. Linda Ayade knowing the importance of this meeting will be present at the meeting to officially flag it off.
She charged partners to work with the consultant and staff from the agency to produce a workable pathway for the execution of the MYOP in the coming days.
Dr Henry Ayuk said the MYOP is very vital as he called on all partners to be present at the retreat to avoid 'I have not been carried along syndrome'.
Mr Joachim, the UNFPA representative stress further on the Needs Assessment report availability for the retreat. Finally the Consultant, Dr Adesoji noted that his main assignment is to facilitate the project and not to implement it. According to him this will be achieved by ensuring access to all documents that will improve the quality of the MYOP and by extension primary healthcare.
The Desk Review meeting continues till Friday at the Conference room of the Agency with the coordination of the Lead Consultant for the MYOP. Deliverables from the Desk Review include: An agenda for the main MYOP Event, a background and template for the main event. The 3 focal point for the MYOP include, one functional PHC per ward, universal health coverage and integration.
