Cross River State Governor, Sir, Prof. Benedict Ayade has granted the request of the Oba of Benin, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, to establish and situate a memorial centre and a Benin house within the state.
Governor Ayade made this promise today while playing host to the Monarch and members of his entourage at the Executive Chambers other Governor’s Office in Calabar
While making the request, the grand Patriach of the Benin kingdom averred that “the memorial centre will serve as a sign of respect to my great grand father and ancestor who was barnished but received in the ancient city of Calabar.”
Speaking also on the need for the Benin house, the traditional ruler said, “the people of Benin resident in Cross River State have spoken of the hospitality of Cossriverians, the peace and love they enjoy , which has made them see Cross River as a second home. I will therefore like to see a consolidated relationship between these two sister states, and most importantly a roof over the heads of my people.”
