NEWS: Buhari Welcomes Obasanjo's Support
By Dickson BlessingThe All Peoples Progressive party (APP) candidate .Gen Muhammed Buhari(Rtd) has welcomed the endorsement of the former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
He had said this on wednesay on an interview with CNN’s Chief International Correspondent, Christine Amanpour. He said that this endorsement would encourage more Nigerians to vote for him at the upcoming elections. When asked by Amanpour what he thought of Obasanjo’s endorsement, Buhari said, “It would certainly bring more supporters to us and more confidence again to us for those who are sitting on the fence.”This, he said, was “because General Obasanjo is highly respected and as far as the Nigerian nation is concerned, there is no serious issue that can be discussed without people seeking his opinion and listening to it.”Buhari spoke on his disappointment of the postponement of the election, he maintained that INEC was forced by the military to postpone the election even when they had showed all readiness. He also explained that since the action was constitutional, the APC has asked its supporters to remain calm and resolute. When asked about Boko Haram insurgency, He acknowledged Nigeria’s military as capable of handling Boko Haram insurgency in the northern part of the country but were unable to do much now due to lack of proper weapons as a result of misappropriation of funds by the government. If elected as president, he said achieving that goal would not be “too difficult.”“I believe this problem will not be too difficult for the APC government because we know the Nigerian military is competent. It is a question of making sure that the money voted for equipment and training is properly utilised,” he said. The former military dictator added “I think I would be judged harshly as an individual that what happened during military administration can be extended under multi-party democratic system,” He therefore made it clear that if Nigeria does not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria. -

POLITICS: Obama Endorses Buhari!
By Efio-Ita Nyok
In the contemporary world where globalisation is becoming the in-thing, it becomes reasonable that the activities of a group of people, state, corporate organisation, institution should interest or even affect the other irrespective of the distance, prevailing ideology, culture, etc. It is in this context that the world is described by some as a ‘global village’.
However, in view of the fact that the trend of Americanisation, where American political, economic and cultural values are imposed on other sovereign states unilaterally in a one-way traffic, is the norm; as Nigeria decides who becomes the next president come March 22 America has been seen to want to foster their hegemonic interest in the usual spirit of perceiving themselves to be ‘the world’s police’. We could see this demonstrated when John Kerry, the Secretary of State, was seen to condemn the postponement of the February 14 general elections.
Besides, the White House is seen to go further by ‘donating’ AKPD, the political campaign firm that saw Obama to the presidency in 2008 and 2012 to Nigeria’s main opposition party, the All Progressive Congress APC. This move by the White House is reported to introduce a measure of frostiness in the diplomatic relationship between Aso Rock and the White House, and is perceived to be an obvious endorsement of Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC.
In the main, AKPD is said to be denying any form of relationship with the APC. However, email messages exchange between AKPD and the leadership of the APC including that of both the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the said party suggest otherwise. However, Lai Mohammed, the spokeperson of the APC is said to have affirmed the latter.
It is believed that America’s meddling in Nigeria’s domestic affairs is not to the best interest of Nigeria. At least, it is a truism that America does not have any permanent friend or foe except permanent interest. For instance, in the international scene, America is now ready to cooperate with Bashar Al-Assad of Syria despite the conviction to the contrary previously. What this interest is in Nigeria’s present political dispensation, is still covert. Whatever it may be, it is the prayers of some that America should respect Nigeria’s territorial integrity. America, to the mind of the author has never supported any state to their overall best interest. If there are, I am not aware.
God bless Nigeria! God bless this Nigeria!

QUOTE: " If You Want To Go Fast, Go Alone. If You Want to Go Far, Go Together"
Working alone can be good since one can can get something done quickly. But the question is: how far can one go working alone? Going far requires the support of others to let you know when you are going going the wrong way, to lift you when you fall, to encourage you when you are despair, and to stand in for you when you are worn out. Its better to go far than go fast!

QUOTES OF THE DAY: "If You Fear Something, You Give It Power Over You"
Fear is a negative force that has the capacity to cause or create action or reactions. It is nothing we should underestimate because of the destructive tendencies. There is a sage that says the only thing we must fear is fear itself. Fear is as powerful as we allow it. Thus the way to manage it is by facts and information fact fully handled. (F.A.I.T.H). Faith is a firm belief based on would or superior evidence.
Confront your fear with knowledge. This will rob fear of its power instead of fear robbing you of power.Courtesy of African proverb
