Manchester United are looking to add a young Austrian star to their roster ahead of the summer.
The club are expected to be active in this summer’s transfer window, especially after last season’s performance, with several players set to leave Old Trafford.
Last season saw United finish 8th in the Premier League; their worst finish ever.
Partly to blame for their lack of success has been the injuries that have plagued the team for weeks, with Lisandro Martinez out for the rest of the season on a cruciate ligament injury.
With the Red Devils currently sitting at 13th in this year’s Premier League, United boss Ruben Amorim has been dedicated to reinforcing his team with young talent to improve their odds next season.
This task has been made difficult for the Portuguese manager, with the team’s formation changing from 3-4-2-1 to 3-4-3 under his watch.
The latest focus for Amorim, though, has been an exciting young Austrian who has been described as the ‘next Eric Haaland’.
According to the Daily Star, Manchester United are interested in signing Austrian wonderkid Oghenetejiri Adejenughure, the FC Liefering forward.
Born in Austria, he is of Nigerian descent. Adejenughure played for an Austrian youth national team for the first time in November 2021.
In 2024, he took part at the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championships, scoring 4 goals in 4 games.
The 18 year-old has showcased his potential for senior football success and made himself a target for other European clubs as well as Man United.
All this without any Premier League experience has made him something of a prodigy, and Amorim would do well to scoop him up before his value is realised.
Currently valued at £501.8k, Adejenughure would certainly be an investment for the future.
But whether Amorim will make moves to acquire him soon, instead of waiting to see evidence that Adejenughure can perform on the European stage, remains to be seen.
