Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has become the latest high-profile footballer to suffer an armed robbery and, this time, it seems like the former Arsenal captain was fortunate to escape without something worse happening.

According to El Pais, and picked up by the press around Europe, Aubameyang’s home in Castelldefels was broken into around 1am on Monday morning.

It is believed that at least four men were involved, climbing into his garden, before breaking into Auba’s home and assaulting him.

The gang are believed to have fled in a white Audi A3, taking jewels from a safe, after threatening Aubameyang and his wife, Alysha Behague, with guns and iron bars.

It is not known if their children were home at the time but, thankfully, they do not seem to have been involved in any way.

Previous high-profile football victims of robberies in Spain have included Robert Lewandowski, who had his £59,000 watch stolen outside Barcelona’s training ground.

Gerrard Pique was another victim although, like Boateng and Arthur whose homes were also robbed, was not in at the time.
