Since signing for Barcelonan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored 13 goals in 22 games in form reminiscent of his first year at Arsenal.
Despite reports that Barcelona could look to sell the former Arsenal captain to avoid having to pay him a vastly-increased wage next season, the Gabonese hitman has decided to retire from international football so he can focus on playing more for the Spaniards.
“After 13 years of pride in representing my country, I am announcing that I am ending my international career, Aubameyang said.
“I would like to thank the Gabonese people and all those who have supported me in good and bad times.”
Media reports then add that the player ‘prefers to fully concentrate on Barca’.
Auba scored 30 goals in 72 appearances for Gabon after making his debut in March, 2009 when he was just 19.
He also played for the Gabon Olympic team, scoring one in three games at the tournament in 2012.
Aubameyang turns 33 in June.
