Aston Villa are searching for a new attacker as youngster Jhon Duran heads to Al-Nassr after signing a £64.5 million deal this week.
Adding to their need to bolster their attack, Emi Buendia has also left the club, although only temporarily, with a loan deal set up with Bayer Leverkusen.
As a result, The Villains are desperate for a new striker to fill the boots of Duran whose 12 goals in 29 games have helped the club hold eighth place in the Premier League and get through to the round of 16 in the Champions League.
Now, The Athletic has reported that Unai Emery has personally requested that Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is considered as a replacement.
The Villa manager is a huge fan of Rashford’s and believes he has what it takes to help the 27-year-old to find his form once more.
Villa are the most recent club to enter the ever-revolving race for Rashford, with elite European clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and AC Milan having previously declared interest before bowing out.
However, Rashford’s preference still sits with LaLiga giants Barcelona or to stay at Old Trafford, so Aston Villa will need to work some magic to convince the star to agree to a move.
That said, remaining at Old Trafford could be a rough end to the season if Rashford doesn’t start improving under Ruben Amorim, with the pair reportedly no longer on speaking terms.
