An Association, Golden 20 Association of Awgbu, has donated a two National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) building lodged to Youth Corpers serving at Community Secondary School Awgbu and Community High School Awgbu respectively in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Speaking during the official commissioning of the lodged at the premises of Community Secondary School, on Thursday, the National President of the Association, Chief Oliver Ben Okoli (Onwa na Awgbu), said the decision to focus on the NYSC lodge as a project was based on a thorough needs assessment conducted by the association towards quality education in the community.
According to him, we built this two befitting corpers lodged to enable the beneficiary schools accommodate the serving Nigeria Youth Corpers who may wish to teach in the schools.
“The facilities are meant to boost the corps members’ contributions towards improving the standard of education in our community.

“We members of G- 20 decided to construct the two edifice to ensure that corps member posted to Awgbu community did not reject their posting and also to contribute our quarter towards National unity and togetherness.
Chief Okoli implore other groups and individuals in the area to emulate the association to enable the community returned on its path of prosperity again.
In his remark, the Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Barr. Casmir Chukwunonso Nwafor, commended the association for keying into governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s Public, Private, Community Partnership PPCP policy in the state.
The Chairman while describing the gesture as foundational input in Awgbu community, promised to provide the facilities with adequate security.
He also promised to partner with the Association for further development of the town and the council area at large.
In her acceptance speech, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, lauded the association for its magnanimity in building two befitting lodged for corps members serving in the beneficiary schools.
She said the gesture was part of what NYSC stands for; Cooperation, Collaboration and Unity of purpose.
She assure the association that the NYSC under her watch in Anambra State would make good used of the lodges judiciously.
In her appreciation, the Principal, Community Secondary School Awgbu, Rev. Sister Nwafor StellaMary, thanked the association for their commitment to development of Awgbu community.
Among the distinguished attendees at the commissioning are the State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Chris Onwuka, the President General of the town, Engr Okoye Udor and the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha, who equally expressed her delight at the establishment of the two new Corpers Lodged in the community.
The event also featured presentation of Scholarship to 8 deserving University students from the community.
