Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to Senior Manager: Finance, the incumbent will:

Develop and implement asset management strategies, guidelines, policies and procedures that ensure the effective use of all assets, and an IFRS compliant asset register.
Recommend and implement any updates on asset management policies and procedures.
Develop a user manual for guiding the implementation of asset management policies and procedures and conduct educational workshops in the organisation on the policies and procedures.
Supervise the monitoring of the General Ledger control accounts, to ensure that assets are accounted for in the fixed asset register and to manage the useful life of assets.
Manage the asset control accounts.
Prepare monthly CAPEX report, for EXCO reporting purposes.
Assist with the Preparation of annual financial statements by preparing the relevant financial statement PPE disclosure notes.
Ensure and manage fixed and intangible assets’ readiness for review and audit.
Manage and maintain a comprehensive asset register, including acquisition, depreciation, impairments and disposal records.
Develop and support the Disposal Committee in the execution of its’ duties.
Ensure that monthly asset related reconciliations are done timeously, and the review thereof.
Establish and maintain relationships with the business units and obtain information pertinent to asset verifications.
Manage and ensure that assets verifications are conducted and submit reports to SM: Finance and CFO.
Identify anomalies through asset verification and recommend corrective measures.
Perform annual assessment of useful lives on assets and submit report to SM: Finance and CFO.
Oversee the issuing and control of assets barcodes in the regions.
Monthly update of the assets register.
Establish and coordinate monthly engagements with business units, for the monitoring of movements on the asset register.

Qualifications and Experience:

Be in possession of a Degree in Financial Accounting or equivalent.
Honours in Accounting will be added advantage.
Article experience will be an added advantage.
Supervisory experience.
Should have Proven track record in asset management.
ICT asset management would be an added advantage.
Knowledge of IFRS Standards.
Must have 5 years and more of work experience in Asset Management or a similar environment, of which 2 to 3 years at middle management level.
