Arteta: Title win will demand perfection

Arsenal went to White Hart Lane on Sunday knowing that a win would take them eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

While Spurs have struggled for consistency this season under Antonio Conte, Arsenal had not won in the Premier League at Tottenham since Mikel Arteta captained the side to victory in 2014 thanks to a Tomas Rosicky thunderbolt.

Nobody expected and easy day.

In the end, it turned out to be a lot more straightforward than any of us could have imagined, and while Aaron Ramsdale was voted Player of the Match for an excellent performance, that gave Spurs far too much credit.

“It will demand almost perfection,” Arteta said about winning the title after a win that moved Arsenal 14 points clear of their north London rivals.

“It’s a great position to be in. let’s enjoy the moment and keep focusing. The enjoyment is going to come if we keep focusing on what we have to do.

“This obviously has a big emotional attachment because there is a big history between the two clubs and it means so much to our people to win this game.

“Going in the dressing room and just feeling the joy and the togetherness around the team and how much it meant for them is special.

“We know that we are here because of the way we play and the way that we are and the way that we live together and the unity that we have. We must not forget that.”
