Arsenal Mesut Ozil against his Ludogorets opponent |
Seven wins from seven now for Arsenal, who are in a lovely run of form. They outclassed Ludogorets tonight, thanks to Mesut Ozil’s first-ever professional hat-trick. Seven points from three games for the Gunners, and they’re on course to reach the last 16. Although, the other game in this group ended 3-0 in favour of PSG who are now 7 points with Arsenal while the Gunners top with goal difference.
Ozil was devastating in front of goal with the German scoring a second-half hat-trick as Arsenal surged to an easy 6-0 win over Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday. Thanks to combine team work with Lucas Perez coming off the bench to render two assists for Ozil’s goals and almost got on the score sheet if not for brave goalkeeping from Stoyanov.
The game started with usual play for Arsenal this season since losing 4-3 to Liverpool on match day 1 as Alexis Sanchez opened the floodgates in the 12th minute with his fine finish before Walcott doubled their lead before half time, thanks to an incredible assist from Ozil who was prolific throughout the game.
The avalanche of goals continued after the break as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain immediately got in on the scoring. The former Southampton man meet a scramble ball and bundled it home in the 18 yards box and Ludogorets thought they’d dealt with Keiran Gibs low crosss.
Ozil then capped off a fine win with three cool finishes after collecting three balls from Santi Carzola and Perez respectively. A well definition of the German who have been in his best of form this season scoring in his last 3 games for the English side.
The win lift Arsenal to top of group A, leading Paris Saint Germain who thumped FC Basel 3-0 today on goal differences. Peradventure, the two teams are likely to qualify from this group, but who will top the group is the question of the day. Anyways let’s wait until the remaining three legs to be played.
