Arsenal are looking to bring in a winger in January and have been heavily linked with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk.

They don’t want to sell the 21-year-old and, in order to sign him, Arsenal may well have to pay up more than €100m to have any chance.

That’s a lot of money.

So, it makes sense that Arsenal would be looking for backup options, one of whom is said to be Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

The 23-year-old left winger has four goals and four assists in 19 games, so not quite as productive as Mudryk who has seven goals and seven assists in 13 games this season.

Then again, that’s likely why he won’t cost over €100m.

Diaby moved to Germany from PSG in 2019 for €15m and is currently valued at around €60m according to transfermarkt.

His contract runs until 202, so there is little chance of Arsenal striking a bargain here, either. And, as we know, January deals usually come with a premium as clubs try to resist losing players in the middle of the season.

It’s also worth noting that in late August, some in the media were claiming Arsenal were considering a move for Moussa Diaby should they fail to sign Pedro Neto.

In all, Mikel Arteta is said to want three players in January.
