A couple of months ago, Real Betis star Borja Iglesias joked on Twitter that they needed to get some crowdfunding going to bring Hector Bellerin back to Betis after his loan.

Speaking to the media this week, Iglesias suggested he was still thinking about the idea.

“Yes, I miss Hector Bellerin,” Iglesias said (via Sport Witness).

“I’m thinking of doing the crowdfunding we said we would do to get him back. I come out of training, and people ask me if Hector is coming, and they tell me that they are starting a piggy bank here to raise money.”

It certainly doesn’t seem like Bellerin himself needs much persuading. Kike Marin of El Confidencial reports that the right-back has rejected several offers of a move to Italy.

If Bellerin leaves Arsenal this summer, he wants to go to Spain, where he knows Betis want him back. Marin claims Arsenal want £7m, which is a problem for Betis, but the player’s expiring contract may help them reach a compromise.

“Bellerin really wants to come back,” Iglesias continued. “He has always said that he wants to play here, what happens is that he has been there for a long time at Arsenal. It is a complicated situation because he has a contract.”

Betis aren’t the only club interested in signing Bellerin, with Atletico Madrid also holding initial talks. Atletico spoke with both Arsenal and Bellerin’s agent about the prospect of a transfer.

But both Atletico and Betis appear to be delaying a move, presumably to try and strengthen their negotiating position.

James Benge of CBS Sports wrote in mid-June that Bellerin is considering his summer options and not limiting himself to a Betis return alone.

Arsenal want a fee for his sale, so it’s up to the interested clubs to make a serious move.
