The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics was recently revealed to be releasing sometime in 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam. It’s also nice to know that this collection will be available as a physical release so we won’t have to worry about the game getting delisted from online stores later down the road.
However, there are some have seemingly been worried that the collection would only provide owners with a download of the games that it’s supposed to contain. Needless to say, this is how Capcom has handled a few of their game collection releases in the past.
As reported on by Video Games Plus, this apparently won’t be the case for Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. It turns out that all games that are part of the collection will be contained within the disc or cartridge itself.
In other words, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and The Punisher will all be available on the discs and cartridges. No download will be required for those that own the physical version of the collection.
#VGP has been able to confirm that all the games included in the Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics are contained on the cartridge/disc.

Why is this important? Though the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 + 2 was released back in May 2018 as a physical cartridge, this cartridge only contained the games for Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 which consisted of Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, and Mega Man 6.
As for the Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 9, and Mega Man 10 all had to be downloaded, tying them to the user’s Nintendo Account. This means that the cartridge itself couldn’t be used to play the latter four games on a different Nintendo Switch system.
Additionally, this means that those without an internet connection can still play all the games contained within the Marvel vs. Capcom collection on day one.
