CALABAR – In a fervent display of unity and appreciation, young people from Cross River State have voiced their request to Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, urging him to appoint Comrade Daniel Obo, the Cross River State Chapter Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, as the Commissioner for Youths. This motion was put forth during a town hall meeting organized to celebrate the election victory of Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Otu of the APC.
The gathering of youths from the South region, which took place in Calabar, aimed to acknowledge Comrade Daniel Obo’s remarkable contributions during the election campaign and his unwavering dedication to ensuring power returned to the South against all odds. They strongly believe that Obo deserves to be honoured by the current government with a significant appointment, particularly as the Commissioner for Youths. This sentiment arises from his proven capacity and his role in unifying the youth of Cross River State during his tenure as the youth chairman.
Expressing his gratitude, Comrade Daniel Obo, the dynamic Chairman and leader of Cross River State youths, conveyed his delight at the warm reception he received. He humbly acknowledged that power and platforms for service come from God and emphasized that the will of God shall prevail at the appointed time.
Several youths, speaking to our reporter after the event, expressed their optimism regarding Comrade Obo’s competence and ability to assume the responsibilities of the Commissioner for Youths in Cross River State.
One youth stated, “We have witnessed Comrade Daniel Obo’s unwavering dedication and commitment to the welfare of the youth in our state. His appointment as the Commissioner for Youths would serve as a well-deserved recognition of his tireless efforts.”
Another youth added, “Comrade Obo has proven himself as a unifying force among the youth of Cross River State. His leadership has brought us together, and we firmly believe that he will bring positive changes to the youth sector if given the opportunity.”
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the prestigious Strength and Friend of the South Award to Comrade Daniel Obo. This esteemed award was bestowed upon him in acknowledgement of his outstanding role during the election campaign and his unwavering support for the South region.
As the voices of the youth grow louder, their plea for Comrade Daniel Obo’s appointment as Commissioner for Youths in Cross River State gains momentum. Only time will tell if their appeal will be met and if Obo will take on this crucial role, guiding and empowering the young population of the state towards a brighter future.
