A joint delegation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) Screening Committee and the Local Harmonization Committee on Wednesday visited the Anambra State chapter of the party to deliberate on the ongoing ward and local government congresses.
According to a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Chris Okey Udeze, the stakeholders’ meeting was held at the APC State Secretariat in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Thursday.
Addressing party faithful, the State Chairman, Sir Basil Ejidike, welcomed members of the Congress and Screening Committee and reaffirmed the commitment of the Anambra APC to a transparent, peaceful, and credible congress process.

He stressed that internal cohesion and respect for due process remain paramount to strengthening the party’s structures ahead of future electoral engagements.
Ejidike also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, for underwriting the nearly three hundred million naira reportedly expended on the procurement of nomination forms.
He described the gesture as a demonstration of solidarity and shared responsibility within the party’s leadership.
In his remarks, Senator Emma Anosike, a member of the State Harmonization Committee who represented the Committee Chairperson, Senator Uche Ekwunife, explained that the visit formed part of broader efforts by the national leadership to ensure uniform standards and compliance with party guidelines nationwide.
He assured the visiting delegation of a smooth and orderly exercise in Anambra State.
Senator Anosike disclosed that the engagement was preceded by an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting held at the same venue a day earlier.
The meeting, he said, brought together key leaders and critical actors within the party to address concerns, reconcile differences, and prevent factional divisions.
According to him, the consultations helped to calm frayed nerves and laid the groundwork for a rancour-free congress anchored on consensus-building and inclusivity.
Speaking on behalf of fellow lawmakers, Hon. Paul Obi—one of the five members of the Anambra State House of Assembly who recently defected to the APC—pledged the legislators’ loyalty and cooperation.
He emphasized that their decision to join the party was driven by a commitment to broaden its grassroots appeal and reposition it as a formidable political force in the state.
The Chairman of the Congress Committee, Hon. Solomon Golley, commended the peaceful atmosphere in Anambra, noting that the level of organization and cooperation among stakeholders was commendable, particularly in comparison with reported tensions in some other states. He urged party leaders to sustain the spirit of unity and internal democracy throughout the congress process.
Other dignitaries present included Engr. Nelson Onubuogu, Chief Azuka Okwuosa, members of the Harmonization Committee, and additional lawmakers of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
