Antony Starr tells fan to play Call of Duty when asked again if he’s voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1

·

At this point, Antony Starr has been asked several times about the possibility of him voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 once the character is released as DLC. Considering that we already have J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man and John Cena as Peacemaker, it’d be a strange omission not to have Starr reprising his role once more.

Unfortunately for fans that wanted it, Starr has indicated multiple times that he is not the voice of Homelander within Mortal Kombat 1. As it turns out, Starr was asked about it once more at a live event which resulted in his interesting response being captured as a GIF.

“Are you voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1?” asked a fan from the audience.

Upon being asked this, there was a notable pause from Starr. After thinking for a moment, Starr lifted the mic closer to his face.

“Hey, have you seen Call of Duty?” responded Starr. “I voice Call of Duty, so go play that!”

Likely what Starr meant to say was that he voices Homelander in Call of Duty, which is indeed the case for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.

Just a few hours ago, another fan commented on Starr’s Instagram page saying how it’s “crazy” how he isn’t voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1. Indeed, a number of fans have continuously expressed their disappointment at this news.

“I was open to it,” responded Starr. This seems to to suggest that Starr was ready to take up the role again, but he was either never approached or he wasn’t able to work out a mutual deal with Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios.

According to thethiny, they couldn’t agree to an amount for payment so NetherRealm Studios ended up going with somebody else to voice the role. Word of mouth suggests that he was offered only 10% of what Activision had offered him for Call of Duty.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that this part is only a rumor. At this time, this cannot be substantiated since it supposedly happened off camera.

At this point, it appears to be a surefire thing that Antony Starr won’t be the voice actor for Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1. There’s that possibility that he’s been lying all of this time, but this has become less and less likely with every recorded instance in which he’s responded to this sort of question.
