Homelander is scheduled to be released as a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 1 via the Kombat Pass around spring 2024, which will be around the time Ermac gets released as well. Of course, this will be after Quan Chi and Peacemaker are released in winter 2023/2024, and before Takeda Takahashi is released in summer 2024.
Back in November, Antony Starr finally confirmed that he wouldn’t be voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 despite portraying the character in The Boys television series. Unfortunately for fans, this fact hasn’t changed as Starr has seemingly reaffirmed that it’s too late for this to happen.
“Please Voice Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1. We need you to voice Homelander in MK1. You are the only one who can voice Homelander in MK1,” said one fan to Starr over on Twitter.
“That ship flew, hombre,” responded Starr. Looking over the responses to this exchange, it’s clear that there’s a lot of disappointment amongst the fans about this.
This all comes across as being a little bizarre considering that J.K. Simmons is the voice of Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1. Additionally, Ed Boon has already confirmed that John Cena will be reprising his role as Peacemaker.
It’s certainly worth noting that J.K. Simmons is estimated to have a net worth of about $20 million while John Cena is estimated at around $80 million. For comparison’s sake, Antony Starr’s net worth is said to be around $2 million.
As such, there’s currently no reason provided as to why Antony Starr can’t be the voice of Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1. Based on these estimations, J.K. Simmons and John Cena should theoretically be the more expensive voice actors to contract for roles in Mortal Kombat 1.

Of course, if Antony Starr already recorded his lines for Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, he’d probably be contractually obligated to not reveal this fact before it’s officially announced. Technically speaking, Starr could be lying to make the surprise even better when it’s finally unveiled.
However, this possibility is looking less and less likely with Starr’s latest response. It’d be best to just expect someone else to be doing the voice work for Homelander at this point.
Regardless, there’s still reason enough to be hype for Mortal Kombat 1 this week as we’re expecting a trailer for Quan Chi on Sunday, December 3 at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET.
Ultimately, we’re still a ways away from learning about Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 as Quan Chi, Peacemaker, and Ermac are all scheduled to precede him in the lineup. We’ll just have to wait until closer to his release window to find out how he plays and who’s voicing him.
