After weeks in which Antonio Brown has starred in scandals and declared controversial phrases against NFL characters such as his friend Tom Brady, it seems that the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers player has decided to backtrack on some of his words.
Change of speech about his ‘friend’ Brady
Brown, 33, said Friday outside Via Allora in Beverly Hills that he has already spoken to Brady, despite questioning the veracity of his friendship with the storied quarterback in days past.
“Listen, I love Tom. That’s my guy. Don’t get it twisted. A lot of words were taken out of substance. Tom is one of my true friends in the midst of adversity that was there for me, so don’t get it twisted about nothing with Tom Brady,” Brown told TMZ Sports.
But that wasn’t all, as the veteran wide receiver heaped praise on the seven-time Super Bowl winner, whom he called the greatest both on and off the field.
“He’s a G.O.A.T. Great player. Great teammate,” AB added.
Brown surprised with this change of discourse about his current relationship with Brady, after last week on the Full Send podcast he questioned the real reasons why the quarterback considers him his friend.
“Not everybody in sports is going to be your friend. Tom Brady’s my friend why? Because I’m a good football player. He needs me to play football,” Brown said.
Brown did not apologize to Arians, but…
After the episode during the Buccaneers-New York Jets game in which Brown left the field and removed his jersey, causing him to be cut from the team, the one-time Super Bowl champion still thinks coach Bruce Arians was out of line, although he acknowledges that he himself could have acted differently.
“Obviously I could’ve handled my emotions better. But, sometimes under anger, you may not handle yourself the right way,” Brown said.
Now, Brown is focused on recovering from his ankle injury, but he’s wasting no time and, in addition to spending time with celebrities like Madonna, he’s preparing a musical collaboration with Ye (Kanye West).
“We got something brewing. We got a lot of stuff working, it’s coming soon,” he said.
