Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has now officially joined his new team, being unveiled by AEK Athens.
The 28-year-old is now AEK’s highest-earning player in the club’s history, earning £2.5 million a year, ending his time as a free agent after leaving Old Trafford earlier this summer.
Before signing for AEK, Martial looked likely to be heading to South America to join Flamengo in Brazil. However, the deal fell through with Flamengo unable to meet Martial’s wage demands.
The France international spent nine years at United, where he made 317 appearances, scoring a total of 90 goals across all competitions with a further 47 assists.

During this time, Marital was a key player in lifting some of United’s ever-growing set of silverware, including; the Europa League Trophy, the FA Cup, the English League Cup twice and the English Super Cup.
Now though, the striker has spoken out for the first time since joining the Greek side.
Anthony Martial comments on joining AEK Athens
Manchester Evening News has reported that Martial is pleased to have joined AEK, saying: “I am very happy. AEK is an opportunity for me and I will give my best to achieve things, win trophies and bring joy to the world of the team.”
It’s understood that the striker could make his debut as soon as Sunday despite having not played since December 2023 when he made his last appearance for United against Bournemouth at Old Trafford where The Red Devils lost 3-0.
AEK will be keen to get Martial up and running with their biggest league game coming up in two weeks against Panathinaikos on 29th September which will see Martial take on former teammate Facundo Pellistri who has already grabbed his first assist for his new club.
