Angela Jolie and Brad Pitt finally reach divorce settlement after 8-year legal battle

Hollywood movie superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally parted ways as husband and wife after a grueling 8-year legal battle to dissolve their rocky union.

On Monday, Jolie and Pitt approved a default declaration submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court, stating that they had signed a legal contract outlining their property and marital rights.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, said in a statement. “She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long, ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

The agreement, which stipulates that both parties must forfeit their claim to any future spousal financial assistance but provides no other information, must be approved by a judge.

Recall that when Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences,” it was later revealed in separate court procedures that she had accused Pitt of abusing her and two of their children on a private flight that year.

The ex-couple disclosed four months later that they had decided to use a private judge to handle their divorce in a private setting and to keep all future information about it private.
