Manchester United are looking to offload a number of players this summer, making way for new recruits to rebuild the squad and get United back to their winning ways.

The Red Devils have already said goodbye to Mason Greenwood with the winger departing to Marseille in the recent weeks.

The club are currently working on two deals according to sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, with the club pushing to complete the sales. Midfielders Scott McTominay and Casemiro are both in the firing line, with McTominay getting interest from Fulham and Spurs, and the Saudi Pro League looking to Casemiro.

Now, rumours have began stirring from Europe, claiming that another United midfielder is getting repeat interest from Belgian side, Anderlecht.

Anderlecht’s comments on Christian Eriksen

DH Net, as reported by Manchester World has interviewed Anderlecht Brian Riemer, who claimed that he is in regular contact with United midfielder, Christian Eriksen.

The pair worked together at Brentford with Riemer positioned as Thomas Frank’s assistant manager. The pair have remained close, having regular contact sparking rumours of the Dane moving to Reimer’s new club.

Speaking about the contact with the Denmark international, Riemer said: “Look, we are always looking for good players. Connections can mean something. But transfer periods are strange things.”

He continued: “Last year, nobody could have expected Thorgan Hazard to be here until it happened on the last day. Just like with [Kasper] Schmeichel. Doors open and close quickly.

“I know Christian Eriksen well, yes, we worked together at Brentford three years ago, and I still exchange messages with Christian regularly. I know that he is now at a training camp in LA with Man United. So I can confirm that he is not in Brussels!

“In general, I can say that Jesper Fredberg and the scouting are working day and night to get reinforcements, but it is not the case that you can just grab players off the shelf. It sometimes takes time to massage certain targets. At the end of the window, there is sometimes an opportunity like last season with Thorgan Hazard.”

Eriksen has recently commented on his situation at United with many expecting the midfielder to be sold with him entering the final year of his contract. The Premier League veteran explained that he’s more than content at the club so isn’t rushing to any decisions on his future.

With Mason Mount now back to fitness and more signing to be made, Eriksen is likely to be getting even less game time, however he’s claimed that he’s still content at United if this is the case.
