An Andalusia woman was arrested March 31 on possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Marcella Boartfield, 53, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said on Monday at approximately 1:50 a.m., an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 21 in reference to a vehicle driving without any taillights.
“The officer contacted the driver and noted suspicious behavior between the driver and the passenger (Boartfield),” McMann said. “A K-9 officer responded to the scene and deployed his K-9, which alerted on the vehicle.”
McMann said the officers then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, and discovered a glass pipe with a crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Boartfield was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
