Andalusia native secures over $1.4 million in scholarship offers

Mantavius “TayTay” Presley, an Andalusia native and senior at Douglas County High School in Douglasville, Georgia, is excelling in and out of the classroom with over $1.4 million in scholarship offers.

Presley attended Bright Beginnings and Andalusia Elementary School before he relocated to Georgia.

He received scholarship offers from Morehouse College, Howard University, Mercer University, Xavier University of Louisiana, and the University of Alabama among many others. Presley has been accepted to 61 colleges and universities in total.

Presley will graduate from Douglas County High School on May 22, 2025, and further his education at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He has aspirations of attending medical school and becoming an anesthesiologist.

In addition to his academic achievements, Presley has also been active in school functions and organizations. He currently serves as the president of the Future Business Leaders of Alabama and the National Honor Society. He is also vice president of the Student Government Association and vice president of the Class of 2025.

His extracurricular activities also include being the manager for the junior varsity and varsity cheer teams and serving on the school yearbook staff. When he is not at school, he works part-time at Marco’s Pizza. He was recently awarded the title of Mr. DCHS.

Presley has also been actively involved in community service with over 1,100 hours of volunteer work.

“Beyond the classroom, TayTay has shown a strong commitment to giving back,” members of his family said. “His achievements reflect not only his academic excellence but also his passion for leadership and dedication to make a positive impact in the community. His success serves as an inspiration to his peers and a shining example of the excellence we strive for. We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished and look forward to the incredible contributions he will continue to make.”

Mantavius is the son of Chasity Green of Atlanta. His grandparents are Angelean Cooper of Opp and the late Billy Green.
