Anambra: Obosi Community kick start 2025 Obiora/Iwa-ji festival

‎The Obosi ancient kingdom in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State set to hold this year 2025 Obiora/ Iwa-ji festival in Grand style.

‎According to the Committee Chairman 2025 Obiora Obosi Festival, Chief Kenneth Ifeatu Obi (Zikora) said that it will  be a one week programme which will officially kick start on Saturday 18th October with a youth carnival and N50 million scholarship scheme for all the pupils and students in Idemili local Government.

‎He listed other activities to includes, Teens Fair Day, Youth Conference , Obiora award / Gala night, Obiora Igwe and Obiora Ndi Ichie/Abummadu adding that it will be a colorful display of their rich cultural heritage, cultural dances and beautiful fun see showcasing their culture.

‎He announced that the Obiora Igwe Obosi, (New yam festival) of HRH, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Ogalagidi) (Eze Iweka III) will be on 25th October, 2025.

‎Ifeatu Obi said there will be a full security coverage for both lives and properties before, during and after the event as Obosi community has good security network having prominent sons and daughters serving in various security formations together with some retired ones.

‎Speaking, Nze Igwebuike Shedrach Okenwa, the palace chief of staff explained that Obiora Obosi is an annual dual event where the community celebrate both Obiora and New yam festival, thanking God for a fruitful season.

‎Okenwa said that the celebration of New yam festival in Obosi is quite different from that of other communities because  they celebrate together the Obiora and the New yam festival and while celebrating the Obiora, the Community leaders will about to reconcile any dispute with- in the community before going into Ekpo-Onono festival.

‎He said that the Obiora is a time of peace and reconciliation down from families, kindred and to the community at large after which the community will go to the king to celebrate oneness and they will go into Ekpo-onono which is the celebration of the New yam festival.

‎In their view, the Chairman 2025 Obiora/Iwa ji festival, Engr. Okechukwu Henry Onwuekwe (Omodi Daike Obosi) together with Nze Ikenna Jibike and Chief Elvis Osi Umegbolu said the festival is a one week full packaged event where the traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Ogalagidi) (Eze Iweka III) who is also the incumbent Chairman of Anambra state council of traditional rulers will showcase a rich cultural heritage.
