The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has conferred an award of patronship on the President General of Urum Development Union, Chief Hon. Aloysius Tabansi.
Tabansi who is also known as Nwachinaemelu Na Urum is the United Nation Peace Ambassador (UN AMB-P).
The award was presented to him during the NUJ 2024 Patrons and Veterans Day and Accountability Conference held at the Godwin Ezeemo Press Centre, Awka.
The Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, Comrade Emeka Odogwu while presenting the award to the President General, described him as a selfless leader who is compassionate and works for the interest of the people.
According to Comrade Odogwu, the Nigeria Unuon of Journalists took its time to select people who have distinguished themselves in philanthropic venture and Community service oriented.
Chief Honorable Tabansi is a successful businessman, who embodies entrepreneurial spirit and innovation.
Being a patron of the Fourth Estate of the realm, NUJ, no doubt Confirms that Chief Tabansi has distinguished himself in many areas and has the integrity that is eluding many leaders in the country.
In a goodwill message, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor said Tabansi has Contributed uniquely and positively to the development of the human person in the society by his unwavering efforts, impactful leadership qualities and inoculation of amiable values.
The Bishop said the Award as Patron of NUJ is an obvious indication that his voice in the service of humanity is loud and clear.
The Catholic Bishop of Yola , Most Reverend doctor Stephen Dami Mamza said the Award is a recognition of his meritorious services to the people and the country.
While praying for God to reward and grant his good intentions in a way that surpasses his expectations, most Reverend Mamza said the the voluntary services done by Chief Tabansi endeared him to the NUJ, Anambra state Council.
For his part, the Chairman, Auto Sheck Oil and Gas limited, Bensheck Igwe, in his congratulatory message, noted that the Award as Patron of NUJ is a well deserved recognition of his exemplary service to humanity.
The Chairman Cubana Group, Dr Obinna Iyiegbu, ( Obi Cubana) said the dedication and support of the PG for Journalists has not only enhanced the standards of journalism in Anambra state but also inspired many.
“This honor is a testament to your unwavering commitment , exemplary leadership and significant co tributions to the field of Journalism and our Community. I wish to express my deepest admiration for your work and the positive impact you continue to make,” Cubana Chairman said.
Chief David Nwankwor, Chairman of Rove Luxury Hotel and Suites LImited, in a message to the NUJ Patron, wished him all the best as he takes the new challenge and responsibility which he achieved based on hard work, passion and integrity.
The award also got him a resounding congratulatory message from Urum Development Union, as they noted that the leadership commitment of Chief Tabansi brought about many transformation policies and programs to the community which turned out to become model to many communities in Awka North local government area.

In an interview, the Patron Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra state Council, Honorable Aloysius Tabansi said the Award is very Dear to him because it reflects the recognition of hard work and integrity coming from the Media.
Chief Tabansi noted that Journalists had a critical role to play in the issue of accountability and Good Governance as it is their responsibility not to amplifier the activities of anyone who had embezzled public Fund but rather ensure that such a person is brought to justice through critical reporting.
“So I want to encourage NUJ to see this theme, Leadership Accountability and Economic Growth: The Crucial Role of Media” as an opportunity to rethink about Accountability so that those that will be Celebrated especially those that are doing little little things should be recognized so that the world can understand that it pays to be Genuine in Service.”
The NUJ Patron dedicated the award to God almighty and his community at large for believing in him.
