Anambra LG Poll: Ihiala stakeholders laud APGA's peaceful chairmanship primaries

Stakeholders of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State, has commended the leadership of the party for conducting a transparent and peaceful chairmanship primaries in the area and the State at large.

The stakeholders attributed the peaceful exercise that took place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, across the 21 local government headquarters in the state, to governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s transparent style of leadership in governance.

The commendation was made on behalf of the stakeholders by the Chairman, Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Vincent Ifeanyichukwu Eziaka, while speaking to Journalists at the Ihiala Council headquarters, shortly after the incumbent Chairman of the Council, Hon Charles Anayo Orjiakor, was elected unopposed ahead of the local government election proper, slated for August 29th, 2026.

According to him, Hon Orjiakor was reelected unopposed because is tested and trusted.

“Here, in Ihiala, we operate on zoning system. We have a very strong and understandable stakeholders in this council area. When we talk our people obey because of the confidence they have in us as their political leaders.

“The unopposed electoral exercise, you media witness here today is the harmony we have build in Ihiala local government area that is in action.”

The peaceful process across the 21 LGAs is a massive signal that governor Soludo’s managerial ability has stabilized APGA in Ihiala, Anambra State, the South East geopolitical zone and Nigeria at large.

Eziaka clarified that the incumbent Chairmen that were dropped by the party has been on the seat since 2022 as Transition Committee Chairmen of their various council areas, lamenting that it would be political wrong to returned them back to avoid stagnation and injustice to other supporters of the party.

He urged the successful candidates not to see the position as avenue for disobeying and disrespect to the party leaders.

The APGA returning office in the council area, Hon Obiajulu Nwoye, while commending the delegates for their comportment, called for a total replication of the exercise in Anambra State to other states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja for the sake of political stability in the country.

The newly elected unopposed chairman, Hon Orjiakor, in his brief acceptance remark, thanked the people for finding him worthy again to pilot the affairs of the council area.

In their separate contributions, the President General of Ihiala community, Hon Henry Nwabueze and the Chairman of Agunechemba security outfit in the area, Chief Arinzechukwu Iliobi, also commended governor Soludo, the Police and the Agunechemba for their roles in providing a conducive environment before, during and after the exercise.
