Motorcycle operators in Anambra State, mostly youths from the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have endorsed governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for a second term ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the State.
The endorsement took place during the official commissioning of the 50 km reconstruction Book Foundation road Ifite-Awka, in Awka South Local Government Area, on Wednesday.
According to Mohammed Audu, Chairman of Okada ridders in the area, who spoke to Journalists shortly after the event, argue that they are endorsing the governor to enable him continue the good works he is doing in the state, including the just commissioning book foundation road that has been in unpassable condition for the past 25 years.
He said, “I have been in Awka for about twenty five years now and this road has been a challenge to road users and especially commercial Okada and Keke operators like us.
“People are afraid of using this road because you must visit the mechanic or panel beater everyday and that is a lot of money for us.”
“But today all those things are over and we are greatful to Gov Charles Soludo for working on this road”
“The road would be more beneficial to us than any other person residing in this area.
“Our endorsement decision was also sequel to the stellar performance of the governor in the last three years as evident in the improvement of security, youth empowerment programmes, economic revitalisation, restoration of peace and the free healthcare/education services to both indigenes and non-indegenes in the state.
Audu, assure that his leadership will mobilized other northern motorcycle operators across the three Senatorial District of the State to ensure total victory for the governor.
In his speech during the commissioning, the Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor, commended the governor for his continue effort to restore the state capital from it loss glory. The chairman was represented at the event by the council’s Secretary, Mr Peter Nosike Uyanwune.
The road was supervised by the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA).
