The Anambra Government has renewed its appeal to residents to embrace telemedicine services as part of efforts to expand access to healthcare delivery in the state.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, made the call on Thursday, during an interactive session with no fewer than 42 doctors working under the programme.
Obidike explained that the initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Health, was designed to close healthcare gaps, particularly in rural and underserved communities where hospitals and clinics are limited.

He pointed out that telemedicine provides patients the opportunity to consult doctors virtually, receive medical advice, and obtain prescriptions without travelling long distances.
He described the approach as both cost-effective and lifesaving, especially during emergencies or in areas with weak health infrastructure.
The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment towards strengthening the scheme and warned against acts capable of sabotaging its success.
